Specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery
As chief physician at Park-Klinik Birkenwerder and manager of the practice for plastic surgery at Park-Klinik Birkenwerder, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. In the following you can learn something about my professional career and also about me personally.
I was born to an Italian father and a German mother in New York, U.S.A. I spent the first formative years of my childhood there until our family moved back to Germany.
After attending the Taunus-Gymnasium in Königstein im Taunus, I began studying medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. I spent part of my student days in Perugia and Bologna in Italy, dedicating myself to the Italian language and art history in this wonderful environment. There I was able to gain valuable impulses for my later work.
I discovered my love for plastic surgery early on and took this path for my specialist training. This led me to renowned clinics: the Bürgerhospital in Frankfurt am Main, the Charité in Berlin and the Hannover Medical School.
The focal points of my scientific work during my specialist training were breast reconstruction, the ultrastructure of the scar and the replacement of skin with artificial skin in severely burned patients, as well as aesthetic facial surgery. Later, facial tumor therapy and wrinkle therapy were added. A research stay as part of a project funded by the German Research Foundation brought me to Hungary, to the University of Debrecen. Numerous lecture engagements at home and abroad have been an integral part of my professional activity since the beginning of my training.
Another stay abroad took my family and me to Vienna for a few years, where I worked as a resident doctor at the “Goldenes Kreuz” private clinic.
I have been running my own practice for plastic surgery on the premises of the Asklepiosklinik since 2000, and now on the premises of the Park-Klinik Birkenwerder since 2012.
Since 2021 I have been chief physician at Park-Klinik Birkenwerder.
I am married and have three sons and one daughter.
In my free time I love to be with my family and friends.
I spend a large part of my free time in the numerous theatres, concert halls and opera houses in the city. Music and theatre, the "fine arts" in general are and will remain my greatest passion alongside plastic surgery.
To relax, I treat myself to time with my Trakehner mare, with which I roam through Brandenburg's forests and lakes.
Dr. med. Ursula Tanzella and her team will be happy to advise you personally.
